Aromatic and medicinal plants The Foundation of Public Radio Schools of Ecuador (ERPE, Escuelas Radiofónicas Populares del Ecuador) is dedicated to providing social and educational services for indigenous people and mixed race and poor farm workers. ERPE is located in Riobamba, in the Chimborazo Province. ERPE's medicinal and aromatic herbs are grown by highland Indians of the Andes. Their cultivations are organic and BCS ÖKO certified. Harvesting is performed manually, when having reached the appropriate degree of maturity. This is the moment at which the plant features the highest concentration of active ingredients. Subsequently, the herbs undergo a selection and drying process.
