Traditional agriculture association of producers of dried medicinal plants of Ecuador

Herbal teas, medicinal and aromatic plants

This association was born in 1997, as a business initiative propelled by women who wanted to take advantage of the production surplus at organic farms. The Association is the most representative farmers´ enterprise of southern Ecuador, contributing not only to the growing and marketing of plants but also to the conservation of the zone’s agricultural biological diversity. This is accomplished through resource management plans for the regions native plants.

The business is located in the northwest of Loja Province at a minimum of 2700 m above sea level. This productive alternative directly benefits 42 families through job creation and a secure market for their farm produces. Another 200 families and over 9.000 consumers in Loja, Ecuador, the USA and around the world reap indirect benefits from this initiative.
